Sampling Sarasota

October 27 -  28, 2015

Join up to 100 fellow enthusiasts on a two day visit to sample the best of Sarasota. This trip includes an afternoon docent guided tour of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, followed by a full day experience at the John & Mabel Ringling complex, with an option to stay longer and see more on your own.

We'll be leaving early on a 3-1/2 hour back roads drive to Sarasota on Tuesday, October 27th.  After we arrive, we'll be having a family style buffet lunch at a well known Amish restaurant. Afterward a short drive will take us to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, ten acres featuring over 20,000 plants. In five or six smaller groups, we'll be docent guided through the gardens on a two hour tour. This is a top destination in Sarasota!

Another short drive will bring us to the Marriott Springhill Suites, our lodging for the visit. A complimentary breakfast, and an option for an additional night at the same price ($89.00 plus tax), are included. Dinner that evening will be at a nearby, popular local seafood place. We'll end the day with group games back at the hotel, if you are not too tired!

Wednesday will be Ringling Day. Our special admission ticket includes small group, docent led tours of Ca'd'Zan (the mansion), including the second floor, which is quite spectacular. Also included at the Ringling, are the Circus Museum, the Miniature Circus Museum, the  Museum of Art with 31 galleries, and the Bayfront Gardens, all part of the estate grounds.  Your admission is good for the entire day.

For the return trip to the Villages, we'll offer two routes, a direct route via I-75, and an indirect route through Tampa on I-275.  You will also receive an array of information on other Sarasota sights, and possible stops in Tampa/St Petersburg for those choosing to extend their stay until Thursday.

Trip costs are $110 per person, which includes Tuesday's lunch and dinner, plus admission and tours at both the Selby Gardens and The Ringling. Hotel charges will be $89 per night, plus taxes and fees, for a total of about $105, payable individually based on your stay.

Registration will open in mid May.  Please register on-line with the Club, and once confirmed, call the Springhill Suites at  941 358-3385 to book your room. Please mention you are with the Villages Convertible Club, and request one or two nights.
