TRIP DESCRIPTION:

 

The Brooksville Historical Train Depot

 

is located at the Hernando Historical Museum

70 Russel Street, Brooksville, FL

Browse our Train Depot built in 1885, part of a railway system connecting travelers and freight from the ports of East Coast of Florida to the Gulf of Mexico. Tour our 1880’s cooks utility car, our Model trains and our 1925 Fire engine.

 

There is very interesting history with the Train Depot and School House. Both have numerous items from the late 1800's and early 1900's. You might see several items from your grandfather's farm. There is even an early 1900 firetruck from Elmira, New York where firetrucks were made and distributed throughout the US. And, of course, there are train items.

 

 

Docents will be in the depot to explain items you may not be aware of and tell you some interesting history.

The Historical School House

 

is located at , 66 Russel Street, Brooksville, FL

 

Browse our newly constructed Countryman Family One Room Schoolhouse, a replica of the First Schoolhouse built in 1852 by Fredrick Lykes.  We will bring you back in time to experience our school lessons while sitting in authentic wooden desks.  Our interactive lessons include the 3r’s and much more. 

 

The School House is set up as it was back during this time with a docent who will be dressed like a school teacher and give us a lesson from that time period.

 

 

This is a fun, historical trip not to be missed.

This trip/tour can accommodate a maximum of 40 people so early registration is suggested.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND the day of the event, please contact the trip leaders.    

 

If you cannot sell your place on this tour to someone on the waiting list, please be advised that according to the VCC policies, there are no refunds.   

 

Once you have registered, you will receive a Final Instructions email approximately one (1) week prior to the date of the trip with any final instructions.
